Where are you?
We are at 380 Broadway, at White Street, two blocks south of Canal. We are on the 4th floor. We are easily accessible by most subway lines.
Are there hours of operation for the renters of the performance spaces?
Our spaces are booked by the week, from Monday at noon, through to the following Monday, noon. Occupancy in the performance spaces is allowed from 9AM -11PM. Additional use of the space requires specific permission from the Access Theater staff.
Will we need our own insurance?
Yes. Access requires that you obtain Volunteer Accident insurance for all members and associates of your organization, as well as General Liability to cover the patrons of your performances. We can give you contact information for companies that have provided these insurance policies to our past renters.
Are we responsible for the staffing (ticket sales, light/sound operators, fireguard, production management) of our production?
Yes.
You're on the fourth floor. Is there a freight elevator for the loading in/out of our set and equipment?
Yes.
Can we use the elevator for patrons who might have trouble maneuvering the stairs?
With some exceptions, yes. Contact Access Theater for further information regarding the use and restrictions of the elevator for patrons of your performances.
Can we hold a benefit event (fundraisers, opening night receptions, etc.) during our rental time at Access?
With specific permission, we will on occasion allow benefit-style events to take place as part of your rental. It requires an additional insurance policy, however, particularly when serving alcohol. We can give you contact information for companies that have provided this policy to past renters.
Can we serve refreshments?
Access Theater does not have a liquor/alcohol license. Contact Access Theater for further information on restrictions for concession sales during performances.
Can we store refreshments?
Yes, we have a small kitchen where your perishable items can be stored.
Do you have a stock of softgoods (curtains) and flats that we can use in our production?
Very few, and we cannot guarantee the quality or availability of either. If we do have something that you can use, we are happy to consider allowing you to use them. You should not, however, assume that we can offer any of these scenic elements.
Do you have a video projector?
We have a new Optoma EP709 projector that is available for rental, at $50 per week. Should any damage occur during the course of your run, you are responsible for replacement or repair.
Are there issues of sound bleed or intrusion into the space during performances?
Some. Access Theater is situated directly beneath BATTERY DANCE, a 30-year old institution in Tribeca. The rehearsal spaces above may cause impactive movement to be heard in the performance spaces. As part of your rental with Access Theater, we rent the space above the BLACK BOX on Wednesday – Sunday evenings from 8-9:30 pm to insure uninterrupted performance time, and for the GALLERY we rent the studios above from THURSDAY-SATURDAY from 8-9:30 pm. It is the responsibility of the renters to book spaces above their performance venues for any other times they wish to ensure silence above their performances. We can give you contact information and specific details about which studio to book should you wish to secure additional performance times, and you will be given a special Access Theater renter's rate for the booking of that space. We encourage you to consider these "blackout" times when finalizing your performance schedule.
How do I schedule a walk-thru of the Access Theater's spaces?
Walk-thrus of the spaces are by appointment only. Please contact Stephen Speights, the Producing Manager of Access, via email at stephen@accesstheater.com to set up an appointment to see our spaces.
We hope to hear from you soon!Access Theater
