ACCESS THEATER is a not-for-profit theater company founded by Artistic Director Jacqueline Christy, and currently under the direction of the Producing Director Stephen Speights. Access Theater is committed to producing theatre that grapples with current issues and helps new and emerging artists develop their voice.
Since 1992, ACCESS THEATER has served as an affordable rental alternative for New York’s Off-Off and Indie theater scene. When not in production, Access seeks innovative, not-for-profit producing organizations devoted to the production of new works. It has served as host to an impressive roster of theater artists, from The Working Theater to Fringe NYC. Access Theater has also served in a co-producing capacity, picking up and extending runs of renters’ productions.
THE AMERICANS,
the first production at Access by Blue Coyote Theater Group,
was picked up by The Access for a co-produced extension
of its initial run, and in August 2005, Blue Coyote accepted
an invitation by Jackie Christy, Artistic Director of The
Access Theater, to serve as caretaker and resident company
of the Access.
